Blood Bank

The hospital obtains blood through the New York Blood Center, which is affiliated with America’s Blood Centers (ABC). The blood centers depend on volunteer blood donors for these products. All patients in need of blood and blood products are charged a processing fee on a per-unit basis. This processing fee covers the cost incurred by the New York Blood Center for collecting, typing, testing and delivering the blood and blood products.
